The Rob Lowe-starring comedy and John Stamos' sitcom, along with fellow freshmen 'Second Chance' and 'Bordertown', have been axed by the network.

AceShowbiz - Rob Lowe and John Stamos' returns to the small screen are short-lived. Both actors have their respective TV show, "The Grinder" and "Grandfathered", canceled by FOX after running for one season each.
The news wasn't really surprising though, since both Tuesday comedies had been struggling in ratings. "The Grinder", about an actor (Lowe) returning to his small hometown and running his family's law firm, averaged 3.1 million total viewers and a 1.1 rating in the key 18-48 demographic. The show, however, was loved by critics who called it one of the best network comedies.
As for "Grandfathered", it revolves around a longtime bachelor (Stamos) whose life suddenly changes when he learns that he's not only a father, but a grandfather. It drew an average of 3.6 million viewers and a 1.3 rating in the coveted demo.
Two other freshmen, drama "Second Chance" and animated series "Bordertown", also faced the same fate. The former, a reimagiantion of "Frankenstein" tale, averaged 2.4 million total viewers and a 0.64 rating in the 18-49 demo, while the latter averaged just under two million viewers per episode and a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demo.
Meanwhile, "Grandfathered" executive producer Dan Fogelman has already had another project to keep him busy. His dramedy "This Is Us" has been picked up to series by NBC. It follows an ensemble whose life stories intertwine in curious ways. Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K. Brown are in the cast.
