'Powerless' starring Vanessa Hudgens and 'Trial & Error' featuring John Lithgow join another comedy, Ted Danson and Kristen Bell's 'The Good Place', to be picked up to series by the network.

AceShowbiz - NBC is adding two more comedies to its line-up for the 2016-2017 TV season, ahead of announcing its full schedule. The Peacock has given series orders to DC Comics' half-hour comedy "Powerless" and half-hour legal spoof "Trial & Error".
Set in the DC Comics universe, "Powerless" is described as workplace comedy about the reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains. Vanessa Hudgens stars as a non-powered human who works at an insurance company and loves her job, but finds herself increasingly exasperated by the disruptive antics of the various superheroes that proliferate in her city. Alan Tudyk, Danny Pudi and Christina Kirk also star.
"Trial & Error" is a serialized comedy that follows a young big-city lawyer (Nick D'Agosto) and his oddball defense team during a high-profile murder trial in a small southern town. John Lithgow, Sherri Shepherd, Steven Boyer, Jayma Mays and Krysta Rodriguez are also among the cast for the single-camera comedy.
"Powerless" and "Trial & Error" join another comedy "The Good Place" which had been earlier picked up to series by the network. "The Good Place" centers on Kristen Bell's Eleanor, a New Jersey woman who comes to realize that she hasn't been a very good person. She decides to turn over a new leaf by learning what it actually means to be "good" or "bad", and then trying to make up for her past behavior. Ted Danson joins the cast.
NBC has also given dramas "Taken", a prequel of the action film franchise, and "Emerald City", a modern and darker take on the Oz tale, straight-to-series orders.
