During the 69th annual Cannes Film Festival, the 80-year-old filmmaker was asked about flipping his usual romantic comedy dynamic about love affairs between an older man and a younger woman.

AceShowbiz - Woody Allen attended the press conference of his latest movie "Cafe Society" at the 69th annual Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday, May 11. After so many films with love affairs between an older man and a younger woman, Woody was asked if he would ever consider making a romance movie between an older woman and a younger man.

The 80-year-old filmmaker acknowledged that the concept would be "a perfectly valid comic idea." However, he said it wasn't really his field as he lacked personal experience with the subject. "I just don't have any material," he explained further, "I don't have anything really to draw on. But I wouldn't hesitate if I had a good story."

Earlier in the day, Ronan Farrow, Woody's son with Mia Farrow, wrote a column in The Hollywood Reporter about his sister Dylan Farrow's accusations that Woody sexually abused her as a child. Ronan blasted media for not asking his father tough questions and stars for working with him.

During the press conference, Woody was not asked anything about accusations of sexual abuse by his adoptive daughter. According to Variety, however, the audience at the Cannes Film Festival gasped, when host Laurent Lafitte joked, "It's very nice that you've been shooting so many movies in Europe, even if you are not being convicted for rape in the U.S." It is unclear whom Laurent was referencing at the time. Some people believed it was referred to Roman Polanski.

In a recent interview with Variety, Kristen Stewart said she and Jesse Eisenberg weighed the allegations against Woody before deciding to sign up for "Cafe Society". "At the end of the day, Jesse and I talked about this. If we were persecuted for the amount of s**t that's been said about us that's not true, our lives would be over," she shared. "The experience of making the movie was so outside of that, it was fruitful for the two of us to go on with it."
