Rumor has it, the 'Mad Max: Fury Road' actor is set to make a cameo in the upcoming sequel to 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'.

AceShowbiz - Tom Hardy is reportedly set to make a cameo in "Star Wars Episode VIII". According to MakingStarWars.net, the "Mad Max: Fury Road" actor will star as a First Order stormtrooper in the sequel to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

Tom's character will reportedly run into Finn a.k.a. FN-2187 (John Boyega), whom he surprisingly lets go after a comical sequence of events. The site writes about the possible scenario, "Said stormtrooper glimpses FN-2187 on a secret mission but doesn't realize it. The 'incognito' FN-2187 is surprised when the stormtrooper walks up behind him and slaps him on the ass."

"FN-2187 turns around and believes he's dead. He's surely going to be captured," the site continues, "The stormtrooper is elated to see his old friend from back during their First Order academy days. The stormtrooper congratulates FN-2187 on his promotion to Resistance infiltrator and spy. FN-2187 is free to go about his business to his amazement."

If the rumor is true, Tom will follow in the footsteps of fellow Brit actor Daniel Craig. The "Spectre" actor appeared briefly in "The Force Awakens" as a stormtrooper, but never took off his helmet. Simon Pegg provided his voice for the junkyard alien Unkar Platt, while comedians Bill Hader and Ben Schwartz voiced BB-8.

"Star Wars Episode VIII" is set to be released in the U.S. on December 15, 2017.
