AceShowbiz - Critics seem to agree that Tom Holland makes a great new Spider-Man following the release of "Captain America: Civil War" over the weekend. But what does the original Spider-Man really think about the young actor's casting?
It appears that Tobey Maguire, who led Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" trilogy years ago, is as excited as everyone else is about Holland being the latest web-slinger. He praised the 19-year-old star in a caption for a funny video he recently reposted on his Instagram page.
The video shows him looking bewildered as he watches a trailer for "Civil War". He then quickly returns home and takes his Spidey costume from under the bed. "Haha seriously, who made this? @tomholland2013 good job! You are great as Spider-Man. Keep it up!" Maguire wrote.
Holland made his debut as Spider-Man in "Civil War", which has just opened at No. 1 at domestic box office with $181.8 million. The beloved character will headline his own film, "Spider-Man: Homecoming", which is scheduled for release in the U.S. on July 7, 2017.
