James Corden Weighs In on Ted Cruz Dropping Out of Presidential Race and Mocks Donald Trump

'Why did he choose today? He's been losing for months,' Corden comments about Cruz who announced that he suspended his campaign after his loss to Trump in the Indiana Republican primary.

AceShowbiz - People went into frenzy on Tuesday, May 3 after Ted Cruz announced that he withdrew from the 2016 presidential race, following his loss to Donald Trump in the Indiana Republican primary. While many freaked out over the possibility that Trump would be the Republican nominee for president, James Corden couldn't help mocking Cruz's obvious loss to the real-estate tycoon since months ago.

"Who quits just because they've lost?" the British comedian said when opening his "Late Late Show". "Like, why did he choose today? He's been losing for months," he added, noting that there's only one more primary left.

"It was a graceful exit for Ted. For his wife, not so much. His campaign ended the way it began, clumsily and hostile towards women," the "Late Late Show" host continued, before showing a clip in which Cruz accidentally elbowed his wife twice when announcing his withdrawal.

While Cruz who had been a runner-up in the Republican presidential race has dropped out, John Kasich who has been the weakest candidate stays in the race. "Ted Cruz suspending his campaign is great news for the only other candidate John Kasich, who is now just waiting for Donald Trump to drop out. And if the Democratic party disbands, it's gonna be a cakewalk," Corden enthused.

But the biggest mockery in Corden's monologue was actually Trump. The "Into the Woods" star was bemused that Trump tried to get a plus point by pointing out at the time Cruz didn't help Carly Fiorina when she fell off the stage at Cruz's rally. "And Cruz didn't do anything," Trump said during his own campaign, "Even I would've helped her." Corden commented on this, "Trump was calling Carly Fiorina ugly and now he's saying he might pick her up if she falls down."

That wasn't Trump's craziest comment so far, according to Corden. Earlier Tuesday, Trump implied in an interview that Cruz's father may have been involved in JFK assassination. The former "The Apprentice" host made the claim based only on a grainy picture showing a man, whom Trump said was Cruz's father, next to Lee Harvey Oswald.

"I have no idea if that's Ted Cruz's father in that picture. But even if he is, I will say... Look, we have all taken a picture with people who do really bad things after that picture is taken and you shouldn't be blamed for taking that picture. Isn't that right, Donald?" Corden said, before showing an old photo of Trump with O.J. Simpson.
