The former daytime TV queen is set to produce and play a key role in the true-story movie about a woman who changes the face of medicine forever.

AceShowbiz - Oprah Winfrey is moving forward with her passion project "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks". The former daytime queen has long been working on the movie as a producer and now she is committed to take the key role of Deborah Lacks.

The film depicts the true story of Henrietta Lacks through the eyes of her daughter, Deborah. It will follow her search to learn about the mother she never knew and to understand how the unauthorized harvesting of Henrietta's cancerous cells in 1951 led to unprecedented medical breakthroughs, changing countless lives and sparking debate over medical ethics.

Winfrey teams up with "True Blood" creator Alan Ball to adapt Rebecca Skloot's nonfiction bestseller which took over a decade to complete and, when it finally hit the stand in 2010, it became a huge hit. George C. Wolfe will direct the pic and Lacks' family will serve as consultants.
