The new season of the BBC detective drama, which usually premieres on New Year's Day, will likely be premiered earlier this year.

AceShowbiz - Martin Freeman teases fans about "Sherlock" Season 4. During his appearance on "The Graham Norton Show", aired on Friday, April 29, the John Watson actor seemingly confirms that the new season of the BBC detective drama will premiere "around Christmas."

"We are back filming now and the three shows will, I imagine, be out around Christmas," the 44-year-old actor tells Graham Norton. He also imagines how fans turning up on location during filming can be disruptive. He shares, "There is always a heightened state of excitement and we sometimes have to respectfully remind them that we have to be focused and it's not a live gig!"

Martin appears on the show alongside Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Maxine Peake and Birdy.

It has been two whole years since the last episode of "Sherlock" third season. Martin's co-star Benedict Cumberbatch recently shared that the wait for fourth season, which will consist of three episodes, would be "worth it."

Creators Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffatt said, "Whatever else we do, wherever we all go, all roads lead back to Baker Street - and it always feels like coming home. Ghosts of the past are rising in the lives of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson bringing adventure, romance and terror in their wake. This is the story we've been telling from the beginning. A story about to reach its climax..."
