Young Michelle Robinson plays the 'it's not a date' card when going out with her summer associate but changes her mind at the end of the day.

AceShowbiz - It has been almost a year and a half since "Southside with You" was first announced. The first trailer for the romantic drama, which has just been released, shows how romance developed between young Barack and Michele Obama.

In the trailer, Michelle insists that it's not a date but she puts a lot of effort into her look. They eventually spend the day in the park where they engage in a deep conversation about their respective passions. "You and I share a lot of the same interests," he says.

In 1989, Michelle was working at a law firm as an advisor to a summer associate from Harvard Law, who was none other than Barack. He fell for her and braved himself to ask her out on a date. "We clicked right away ...by the end of the date it was over...I was sold," Michelle recalled. The couple got married on October 3, 1992 after three years of dating.

Written and directed by Richard Tanne, the romantic drama takes place in summer 1989 in Chicago. On their first date, the pair went to see Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing" and made a trip to the Art Institute of Chicago. The couple's first kiss, which was also teased in the trailer, occurs outside of an ice cream parlor.

"Southside with You" opens in U.S. theaters August 26. Parker Sawyers plays Barack Obama and Tika Sumpter is Michelle Obama. Singer John Legend is a producer of the film.
