The first draft for the rejected Prince episode was written by freelance writers Ian Deitchman and Kristin Rusk with rewrites by then-staff writer Conan O'Brien.

AceShowbiz - Homer Simpson and Prince could've shared screen on television. In the wake of the music icon's tragic passing, "The Simpsons" showrunner Al Jean revealed some script pages from an unproduced Prince episode.

The Prince episode was written for season 4 or 5, but it was eventually rejected by the "Purple Rain" hitmaker. According to Jean, the original draft was written by freelance writers Ian Deitchman and Kristin Rusk based on idea by Jim Brooks with rewrites by Conan O'Brien who was a staff writer for the animated series.

In the script pages that were shared by Jean on Twitter on Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24, Lisa is trying to order tickets to a Prince concert. In another scene, Selma meets Prince. He's surprised when she says that she loves all his movies, including "Under the Cherry Moon" which Prince himself didn't see. Jean noted in the caption of the second script page, "possibly another objection Prince had to the script..."

In another scene, Prince hands Lisa a cassette which contains a birthday song he wrote for her. Prince gives Bart Vanity's phone number, explaining that Bart will find it useful in a few years. To Marge, Prince says, "the full spirituality of my love is yours forever."

Jean also tweeted that after he re-read the script, "there is funny stuff but my guess is prince didn't want to play second fiddle to MJ, which I get."
