The actor says he and his company Seven Bucks Productions are polishing the script in addition to meeting the important people.

AceShowbiz - Despite being the busiest actor out there, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson managed to slip one more project to his timeline. The former pro wrestler confirmed in an Instagram post on Friday, April 22 that work on "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" is officially underway with him attached to star as the lead.

"It's OFFICIAL: Love this script!" The Rock captioned a photo of himself holding the film's script. "[To] have the opportunity to tell their stories in dope new ways to a whole new generation is truly an honor ...We'll produce and deliver to a whole new generation a title that I love and is one of my all time favs: There's games you play for fun ...then there's games that change your life. JUMANJI."

Rock also gave a few details about the film, saying he's hard working on the script in collaboration with his company Seven Bucks Productions. Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner wrote the early draft. The film will begin shooting this fall with Jake Kasdan on the director's seat and Matt Tolmach in producer's.

It's OFFICIAL: Love this script! Big movie news that me and my canine gal Shang are excited to share;) To produce, create and deliver original properties to fans like HBO's #ballers to this summer's #CentralIntelligence is one of the best parts of my job. But to take great properties that are beloved worldwide like #BAYWATCH and #RAMPAGE and have the opportunity reimagine their stories in dope new ways to a whole new generation is truly an honor. It's official. We'll produce and deliver to a whole new generation a title that I love and is one of my all time favs: There's games you play for fun... then there's games that change your life. JUMANJI Working on edging up an already very good script with my @sevenbucksprod team. Up next is meeting with our producer Matt Tolmach and director Jake Kasdan. Shooting starts this fall. Promise to deliver something cool and special.. and not screw the whole damn thing up;). As always I'll keep you posted. Casting this should be fun! #JUMANJI #JungleLife #JustPressStart #SONYPictures

In his post, Rock did not mention about his pal Kevin Hart who was rumored taking a lead role in the adventure movie as well. Variety reported last week that Sony was working with Hart to clear his schedule. The comedian has to shoot "The Intouchables (2018)" this summer, meaning it would make things difficult with the "Jumanji" commitment.

"Jumanji" is aiming for July 28, 2017 release. Based on Chris Van Allsburg's original 1981 adventure book, the film centers on a 12-year-old boy who becomes trapped in a board game in 1969 and is released 26 years later. The original 1995 pic, starring the late Robin Williams, grossed almost $300 million worldwide.
