The Richard Castle depicter says his co-star 'will be missed' after ABC opted not to renew her contract for the upcoming ninth season.

AceShowbiz - "Castle" star Nathan Fillion breaks his silence after it was announced that his co-star Stana Katic would leave the show after the current season 8. "Castle has been one of the greatest joys of my creative life, and I hope the show continues on for years to come," he begins his statement.

"Stana has been my partner all this time, and I thank her for creating the character of Beckett who will live on for all of us as one of the greatest police officers on television. I wish her well, and have no doubt she will succeed in everything she pursues. She will be missed," the actor continues.

Fillion is in talks to reprise his role as Richard Castle for the next ninth season. Although the show is named after his character, Katic's role as detective Kate Beckett has been as a prominent one. While Beckett is going to be written off, two other detectives played by Seamus Dever and Jon Huertas are expected to return for more.

Katic, however, is not the only one getting the axe. Tamala Jones who plays medical examiner and Beckett's close friend Lanie Parish is leaving the show as well. According to Deadline, the show filmed two different endings for the Season 8 finale, one of which is a cliffhanger that will leave Castle and Beckett's lives hanging in the balance.
