Johnny and Amber recorded a video of them issuing a public apology after she avoided jail sentence in the Australian dog smuggling case.

AceShowbiz - People are reacting to Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's bizarre apology video, which was released after she avoided jail sentence in the Australian dog smuggling case. Amber avoided a possible 10-year prison sentence and a fine of nearly $100,000.

Magistrate Margaret Callaghan gave Amber a one-month $1,000 good behavior bond, meaning she can't commit any other offenses in the country through May 18. The decision came after the actress pleaded guilty to falsifying border protection documents for her dogs when she entered Australia last July.

In the apology video, published on Monday, April 18, Johnny and Amber were reading a prepared statement submitted to the Queensland court. According to Magistrate Callaghan, the Australian Department of Agriculture "will get more deterrence value from the video than any conviction."

Amber began, "Australia is a wonderful island, with a treasure trove of unique plants, animals and people." A stone-faced Johnny added, "It has to be protected." Amber then continued, "Australia is free of many pests and diseases that are commonplace around the world. That is why Australia has to have such strong biosecurity laws."

Johnny said, "Australians are just as unique, both warm and direct. When you disrespect Australia law, they will tell you firmly." Amber added, "I am truly sorry that Pistol and Boo were not declared. Protecting Australia is important." Johnny concluded, "Declare everything when you enter Australia. Thanks."

Following the video release, Twitter users are blasting the couple for their bizarre apology video. Some users are even comparing Johnny's acting in the video to his acting in his films.
