The filmmaker who directed the 2015 film reveals that Daisy Ridley's character isn't the daughter of Luke Skywalker, Leia or Han Solo.

AceShowbiz - Ever since "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was released late last year, there have been speculations about who Rey's parents are. The most popular theory suggests that Daisy Ridley's character is a daughter of either Luke Skywalker or her sister Leia.

J.J. Abrams, who directed the blockbuster, finally gave a big clue about Rey's mom and dad while he and Chris Rock sat down for a discussion at the Tribeca Film Festival on Friday night, April 15. The filmmaker basically shot down the theory when he said that "Rey's parents are not in 'Episode VII'."

He still refused to reveal Rey's parents, though. "So I can't possibly say in this moment who they are. But I will say it is something that Rey thinks about, too," he added.

Fans will learn more about Rey when she returns for "Star Wars Episode VIII" which will be directed by Rian Johnson. The upcoming installment is set for release in the U.S. on December 15, 2017.
