The former Beatles is the latest artist to boycott North Carolina over the new law that discriminates people due to their sexual orientation.

AceShowbiz - Ringo Starr joins the fight against a new North Carolina law that forbids a transgender individual to use bathroom based on the gender they identify with. The former member of The Beatles was originally scheduled to perform at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary, N.C. on June 18, but he has officially called it off.

"I'm sorry to disappoint my fans in the area, but we need to take a stand against this hatred. Spread peace and love," he says in a statement. "This law opens the door to discrimination everywhere by limiting anti-discrimination laws against people based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. How sad that they feel that this group of people cannot be defended."

The ex-Fab Four follows the footsteps of Bruce Springsteen who pulled the plug on his gig in Greensboro, North Carolina. "Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry ... is one of them," so The Boss explained the reason behind his concert cancellation.
