Kevin Feige: 'Captain Marvel' Announcements to Be Made Soon
Movie

He confirmed that a filmmaker would be revealed in the next month or two, possibly along with some of the cast members.

AceShowbiz - While "Inhumans" is experiencing a setback in its development, "Captain Marvel" is moving forward. Marvel Studio's head Kevin Feige said that fans could expect a big announcement about the solo movie as soon as next month.

"I think we'll be announcing a filmmaker in the next month or two, and probably some cast members later in the summer, at the end of the summer," Feige told Fandango. Though he didn't say it, the announcement is expected to be made during this year's San Diego Comic-Con which will be held in July.

This "Captain Marvel" movie would follow Carol Danvers and her journey to become the superhero, Feige confirmed. There are both male and female versions of the superhero in the comic books, but the studio wants more female-led films that would appeal to bigger audience. Female writers Nicole Perlman ("Guardians of the Galaxy") and Meg LeFauve ("Inside Out (2015)") have also been hired to pen the script.

Asked whether there were further plans to have other solo pics, Feige said, "Yes, for sure, I think [Black] Widow at some point would be great. But when you start talking about things that are now four/five years away ...sometimes we do that. 'Dr. Strange' has been talked about for ten years. But we're focused on the next nine movies, which is a lot, between now and 2019."

"Captain Marvel" was initially set to hit theaters November 2, 2018 but it was pushed back to March 8, 2019. A number of actresses have been linked to the role, namely Ronda Rousey, Emily Blunt and Rebecca Ferguson (II).
