Soon after the actor's ex-fiancee Brett Rossi reported the threat, LAPD issued a search warrant to the magazines that published the transcripts.

AceShowbiz - Charlie Sheen is officially under Los Angeles Police Department's "felony threat" investigation, it was announced on Wednesday, April 6. The investigation stemmed from his former fiancee Brett Rossi's report that he threatened to kill her during a phone call with another woman.

"Charlie Sheen is listed as a suspect in this investigation," an LAPD spokesperson said. "The victim's information is kept confidential due to the investigation, and the investigation is ongoing at this time." No other details were released.

As previously reported, Rossi filed an emergency restraining order against Sheen earlier this month after National Enquirer and RadarOnline.com released alleged transcripts of a phone call from Sheen to another woman. He was quoted as saying, "This piece of s**t needs to be f**king buried. ...Family of gangsters. You get it."

Sheen denied the allegations, saying it was all public stunt from Rossi. However, Ross' attorney David Ring said LAPD served a search warrant to the magazines' New York headquarters to seek the audiotape. "There's an active investigation ongoing and they're trying to obtain the full tape recording," Ring told USA Today. "They view it as an important piece of evidence."

Dylan Howard, editor in chief of The National Enquirer and editorial director of RadarOnline.com, responded in a statement to the AP, "We believe the search warrant is illegal and violates federal and state law prohibiting the use of search warrants against media companies who are reporting news and information."

Sheen and his lawyer Martin Singer are yet to comment.
