Star Wars Anthology 'Rogue One' Shows New Stormtrooper in Teaser Preview

The first teaser trailer to the Gareth Edwards-directed film will be released on 'Good Morning America' on Thursday, April 7.

AceShowbiz - Star Wars anthology "Rogue One" is so highly-anticipated that a sneak peek is released for its first teaser trailer. Walt Disney Pictures gave a glimpse of how the new Stormtrooper would look like in the December 16 film.

The stormtroopers here is clad in iron-black armor. An explosion is seen in the background and it looks like a moisture farm vaporator, which is used to trap water on desert planets, is in flame. The teaser trailer will be debuted on "Good Morning America" on Thursday, April 7.

The main objective in the film is to steal the Death Star, a moon-sized deep space mobile battle station constructed by the Galactic Empire after the defeat of the Separatists in the Clone Wars. "Rogue One" is set between the films "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" and "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope", during the Age of the Empire.

The official synopsis reads, "Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the Death Star, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet."

Felicity Jones takes the lead in the movie as a rebellion soldier, while Riz Ahmed a.k.a. Riz MC and Diego Luna will play the other Resistance characters. The film will also feature performances from Forest Whitaker, Alan Tudyk and Mads Mikkelsen among others. There has been a report that Darth Vader will make an appearance in the film, but the main antagonist is yet known.

Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz wrote the screenplay based on an idea by John Knoll. Filming took place at Pinewoods Studios in London with Gareth Edwards as director.
