'At this point the damage has been done. The best thing you can do is own up to it,' Russell says as he regretted recording his conversation with Young in which the latter admitted to cheating on Iggy

AceShowbiz - D'Angelo Russell created a buzz last week after a video he recorded, in which Nick Young admitted that he cheated on his fiancee Iggy Azalea with a 19-year-old girl, leaked. Naturally, the two Lakers players became the most awaited persons by media before the game against Miami Heat on Wednesday, March 30.

Young showed up first, addressing the issue briefly. He said that "it's best if me and D'Angelo handle the situation we have in a private matter outside the media."

Russell walked in next, saying that he felt "sick" about recording his conversation with Young. "I wish I could make things better right away, but I can't," he said, adding that he had spoken to Young privately about the matter and apologized for it. "I've reached out to him, talked a little bit. I let him know my apologies," Russell said. "I don't know if they were accepted. I wouldn't blame him."

Russell said the video, which was recorded in December, was only intended to be viewed by him and Young. He had no idea how the video leaked, but claimed that his phone wasn't hacked. "We joke around and we play around all the time, saying crazy things, and this just got in the wrong hands. This wasn't a prank," he said.

The 20-year-old also denied reports that he was isolated by the team since the video surfaced online, but admitted that there's a "bad vibe." He went on sharing, "At this point the damage has been done. The best thing you can do is own up to it. That's what I did. I'm just taking what comes with it."

A source told Perez Hilton that Young did accept Russell's apology, but things wouldn't be the same with their friendship. "Everything is cool but it ain't gonna be the same," the source dished.

The Lakers coach Byron Scott also spoke to the media, admitting that he was concerned about how this situation would erode trust and chemistry on the floor, but thought that it would eventually pass. "This is life. You deal with it and move on," he said.

Meanwhile, despite the cheating confession, Young and his rapper girlfriend are reportedly "doing well." A source told E! News, "This has not been an ongoing problem between Iggy and Nick though, just a mistake. Nick really loves Iggy."
