Harrison Ford to Future Han Solo Actor: 'Don't Do It'
Movie

The actor despised the idea of making a young version of Han Solo, referring to how his was concluded.

AceShowbiz - Harrison Ford is done playing Han Solo and he's not endorsing a new version of the character. The actor, who first portrayed Han Solo in 1977's "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope", has an advice for the contenders of the upcoming Han Solo movie.

Ford made a surprise appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Tuesday, March 22 to talk about some of his future projects and his opinion of the untitled stand-alone Star Wars film II. Asked what advice he could give for the future Han Solo, he said, "Don't do it. First it seems like everything's going swimmingly, and you put in 25, 30 years, and then they just let you go. And they show you the door and say, 'We're done with you, thanks very much.' "

[Spoiler Alert] Ford's Solo was unceremoniously killed off in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", the first movie in the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy announced after Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm in October 2012. However, Ford was actually happy that his reign was over. "I think it's a fitting use of the character," he said in a recent Q&A with Entertainment Weekly. "I've been arguing for Han Solo to die for about 30 years, not because I was tired of him or because he's boring, but his sacrifice for the other characters would lend gravitas and emotional weight."

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are on board to direct the new project from Lawrence and Jon Kasdan's script. The candidates to play Han Solo have been reportedly narrowed down to Alden Ehrenreich, Taron Egerton, Jack Reynor and Emory Cohen. When Ellen DeGeneres referred to the project as "new Han Solo" movie, Ford jokingly said, "It's worse than that. It's a young Han Solo."

The untitled pic is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on May 25, 2018.
