AceShowbiz - Sony has released the first trailer for Seth Rogen's upcoming R-rated animated comedy, "Sausage Party". Arriving online Monday night, March 14, the video centers on a group of supermarket products which try to escape after discovering what will happen to them after they get purchased.

At the beginning, a hot dog called Frank (Rogen) looks so happy when he, his friends and his hot dog bun girlfriend named Brenda (Kristen Wiig) are added to the shopping cart. They leave the supermarket thinking something fun's waiting for them. Instead, they find themselves running for their lives after learning about the cruel reality.

"Sausage Party" was co-directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon based on a script co-penned by Rogen and his creative partner Evan Goldberg, whose previous screenwriting credits include "This is the End", "Pineapple Express" and the upcoming "Preacher".

In addition to Rogen and Wiig, the comedy boasts the voices of Jonah Hill, James Franco, Edward Norton, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz and Salma Hayek. It is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on August 12, but its work-in-progress version was screened at SXSW shortly before the trailer was released.
