The project, which is yet in production, may also bring back actor Chris Pine whose father is working closely with the director.

AceShowbiz - Anne Hathaway may have to get back in shape fast 'cos Princess Mia Thermopolis is coming back. Director Garry Marshall confirmed that the third "Princess Diaries" film was in plan with the actress on board to reprise her role as the Genovia royal.
"I was with Anne Hathaway a couple weeks ago, it looks like we want to do Princess Diaries 3 in Manhattan," Marshall told PEOPLE. "Anne Hathaway is very pregnant, so we have to wait until she has the baby and then I think we're going to do it."
The third installment is just a talk between the actress and the director currently but Disney is expected to greenlit the project after Hathaway gives birth to her first child with husband Adam Shulman anytime soon. Rumor has it, she is due this month. The actress was spotted very pregnant when heading to the gym on Monday, March 14 in Los Angeles.
Asked whether Chris Pine might make a return to the franchise as well, Marshall said, "Maybe. He's quite big now, you know." The hunky actor appeared in the second movie as Lord Nicholas Devereaux aka the princess' love interest. He had not made his break in the "Star Trek" reboot at that time.
However, wooing the actor to reprise his role won't be a problem for Marshall. "Yes, well Chris Pine likes me, you know why? Because his father is in 'Mother's Day' !" Marshall said, referring to his upcoming movie. "His father I know, I've seen him in plays. Chris Pine and my kids went to similar schools, so I knew him as a kid. [Pine's father] is quite good, he plays a strange, funny Texan. He and Margo Martingale are husband and wife."
