'Dark Tower' Casts Newcomer Tom Taylor in Pivotal Role
Movie

The 'Doctor Foster' star will play Jake Chambers, the protege of Roland Deschain, in the adaptation of Stephen King's novel series.

AceShowbiz - "The Dark Tower" is slowly filling its main roles. After landing heavy-weight actors Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, the adaptation of Stephen King's novella has tapped newcomer Tom Taylor to portray a pivotal character of Jake Chambers, Variety reports.

Jake is a son-like figure to Elba's gunslinger character Roland Deschain. In the first book of the novel series, Roland crosses path with the young boy on his hunt of the villainous Walter Padick a.k.a. the Man in Black, portrayed by McConaughey.

Chambers previously starred as a young version of Sean Bean's character Martin Odum on the now-canceled TNT series "Legends". He also had a role on BBC's series "Doctor Foster". Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner write the screenplay, which is primarily based on the first book in the series, "The Gunslinger". Nikolaj Arcel is on board as director. Production is set to start sometime this spring for a January 13, 2017 release in the U.S.

Aaron Paul has been rumored to take a role in the pic as well. When recently asked if he would be joining the cast of the movie, the "Breaking Bad" alum coyly said, "Those rumors are floating around. I spoke with Stephen King last night."
