Billy Crudup, Jussie Smollett and More Joining 'Alien: Covenant'
Movie

Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejongo and Callie Hernandez are other new additions to the movie, which is scheduled to start filming in April.

AceShowbiz - As "Alien: Covenant" is getting ready to start its production, several faces have been announced as new additions to the cast. Billy Crudup and Jussie Smollett were among actors having been enlisted for Ridley Scott's sequel to "Prometheus", according to Deadline.

Crudup is actually still in "advanced negotiations" for a "key" role in the upcoming film. Should he officially sign on, he'll join Smollett ("Empire"), Amy Seimetz ("Upstream Color"), Carmen Ejogo ("Selma") and Callie Hernandez ("Machete Kills"), whose roles are still kept under wraps.

"Covenant" is scheduled to begin filming this April in Australia for an October 6, 2017 release in the U.S. Michael Fassbender is reprising his "Prometheus" role. Katherine Waterston has been hired as the new female lead to replace Noomi Rapace, who will only make a brief appearance. Danny McBride and Demian Bichir are also on board the project, though there's still no word on what characters they will play.

The movie is set ten years after "Prometheus" and will follow a colony ship bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. The crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world - whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

In other Billy Crudup news, Deadline also reports that the actor is set to star in the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis biopic "Jackie". His role is still unknown. The film, directed by Pablo Larrain and produced by Darren Aronofsky, is led by Natalie Portman who will portray the former FLOTUS.
