TV

Find out seven of the twelve singers who make it into Top 14 following their duets with 'Idol' alums.

AceShowbiz - Former "American Idol" contestants, who now already become famous stars, returned to the show on Thursday, February 11 for duets with 12 of the Top 24. First to take the stage were Emily Brooke and Lauren Alaina (season 10 runner-up). They covered "Flat on the Floor" by Carrie Underwood, and while Harry Connick Jr. complimented Emily on their collaboration, he thought country might not be Emily's best genre.

Next, season 14 winner Nick Fradiani teamed up with current contestant Thomas Stringfellow for a rendition of "Man in the Mirror" by Michael Jackson. Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez said it wasn't like Thomas' usual take on a song.

Stephany Negrete was paired with season 2 winner Ruben Studdard. They tackled "Superstar" by The Carpenters and it was one of the best collaborations of the night. "Your voices sounded super beautiful together," J.Lo said. Harry noticed some "note issues," but added that it was a nice job overall.

Season 13 winner Caleb Johnson and Sonika Vaid sang Adele's "Skyfall" together despite their different singing styles. Harry said he saw a lot of potential in her. Jenna Renae was up next, joined by season 10 winner Scotty McCreery to perform Scott's song "See You Tonight". Harry said the performance was solid and entertaining.

La'Porsha Renae joined forces with Fantasia Barrino for "Summertime" by Ella Fitzgerald, and the collaboration of their strong voices was so amazing. Harry loved that they had a "battle of runs." They're followed by MacKenzie Bourg and Lauren Alaina who did a great job with a rendition of Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance".

Nick Fradiani later returned to join Gianna Isabella onstage. They sang his hit "Beautiful Life". Keith and J.Lo enjoyed the performance, while Harry said Gianna had a mysterious quality. Up next was Avalon Young who teamed up with Ruben Studdard for a duet of "Flying Without Wings". They received a standing ovation from Keith as J.Lo dubbed it "incredible."

Caleb Johnson also joined James VIII for a performance of The Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter". Harry said they did "a pretty darn good job." Scotty McCreery and Jeneve Rose went country with Mitchell Montgomery Gentry's "Gone" and Harry praised Jeneve's musicality.

Rounding out the performance that night was Fantasia and Jordan Sasser's duet of Fantasia's "I Believe". He went all out, but Keith thought that Jordan went a little out of his lane.

Following their collaborations with "Idol" alums, the 12 contestants faced the eliminations. La'Porsha, Sonika, Avalon, Gianna, Thomas, Mackenzie and Jeneve are safe, while Jordan, Emily, James, Stephany and Jenna got the boot. Next week, the rest of the Top 14 will be revealed.
