Nick Carter Is Sued for Attacking Bouncer in Key West

Attorney Mark G. DiCowden said his client, Skylar Carden, was just doing his job and did not deserve what the Backstreet Boys singer did to him.

AceShowbiz - As expected, Nick Carter is being sued after he got involved in a bar brawl earlier this month. The lawsuit was filed by Skylar Carden, the bouncer Carter allegedly choked when he was asked to leave the Hog's Breath Saloon in Key West on January 13.

The Backstreet Boys singer was arrested that night after he attacked Carden outside the bar. Heavily-intoxicated, Carter was asked to leave the place due to "unruly and disrespectful" behavior but he refused to do so. When he was finally escorted out and denied re-entry, Carter went physical with the bouncer.

"Nick Carter has shown the world that he is nothing more than a backstreet thug. Even though Nick Carter is a celebrity, he is no different from anyone else when it comes to respecting the rights of others," attorney Mark G. DiCowden said in a statement on behalf of the plaintiff. As a result of the attack, Carden suffered "bodily injury, mental anguish, pain and suffering."

Carter and his male companion Michael Rae Papayans were taken to the police station that night and were released the following day after pleading not guilty and posting $1,500 bail. On Saturday, January 23, Carter tweeted his apology, writing, "I am human and at times it can be a struggle to balance a healthy lifestyle. I'm not perfect and for that I am sorry. When we fall we have to get up and keep on walking. I hope you stay by my side and continue to walk with me."

Carter is scheduled to be arraigned on February 8.
