Thanks in large part to his two mixtape, Drizzy racked up 1.8 billion streams from 46 million listeners globally in the past year.

AceShowbiz - After putting out two mixtapes and a handful of hits, Drake caps off 2015 by topping Spotify's most-streamed artists of the year list which was revealed along with some other year-end lists on Tuesday, December 2. According to the service, the Canadian rapper racked up 1.8 billion streams from 46 million listeners globally.

Drizzy takes the title from the top streaming artist last year, Ed Sheeran. The British gingerhead this year claims the No. 2 spot while the likes of The Weeknd, Maroon 5 and Kanye West round out the Top 5.

Meanwhile, Rihanna is the world's most-streamed female artist on Spotify with 1 billion streams. The Bajan beauty interestingly achieved the feat while she hadn't put out a new album since 2012's "Unapologetic". However, she did have a few hits released this year, including "FourFiveSeconds" and "B**ch Better Have My Money".

Major Lazer's "Lean On" and Justin Bieber's "Purpose" are among other highlights on Spotify's year-end lists. The DJ Snake and MO-featured infectious hit, which was recently announced as the service's most-streamed song of 2015 with 540 million plays, now becomes the most-streamed song of all time.

As for "Purpose", the Biebs' comeback effort broke the record of most-streamed album in a day with 36 million plays garnered upon its release on November 13. Despite his loss to Drake, Sheeran is still Spotify's most popular musician as he becomes its most-streamed artist of all time with more than 3 billion plays to date and over 59 million listeners this year.
