Jon Favreau's Indie 'Chef' Adapted to Bollywood Movie

Prominent Indian actor Saif Ali Khan will play Favreau's character in the movie about culinary world.

AceShowbiz - Jon Favreau's indie flick "Chef (2014)" is turned into Bollywood movie. It was announced on Wednesday, November 25 that Abundantia Entertainment, Eros International, and Alumbra Entertainment would be producing the Indian version of the 2014 film.

Favreau stars as a high-end chef who quits his job and starts a food truck business with his son. India's popular actor Saif Ali Khan will step in the role of Favreau for the Hindi-language remake. No director is attached yet.

"I'm delighted to see 'Chef' get an Indian remake," Favreau said in a statement. "I'm excited to see how this personal film translates to the Indian culture. The themes of food, music and family should resonate well." It's not clear whether Favreau will be involved in the Bollywood version.

"Chef" did considerably well in the box office, grossing $31 million over $11 million budget. It also starred Sofia Vergara and Robert Downey Jr.

Hollywood movies had been adapted for Bollywood pics for years and vice versa. Among those having its Hindi versions are "Bruce Almighty", "The Italian Job" and "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone".
