The 'American Hustle' co-stars have a common ancestor, a Kentucky farmer named Robert Tague.

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner are related y'all! The "American Hustle" co-stars are revealed to be 5th cousins, once removed. "The discovery of the connection between Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner was complete happenstance," Michelle Ercanbrack, a family historian at Ancestry, told PEOPLE.
According to the historian, they initially looked into "The Hunger Games" cast since Lawrence and her co-star Josh Hutcherson "both have deep Kentucky roots." While no relation was found between them, "later, we were researching Jeremy Renner and noticed he had a Tague family line from Kentucky, which looked familiar."
"Once we realized Jennifer Lawrence had the same family in her tree, finding the relationship between the two was not only quick, it was really close," says Ercanbrack. Kentucky farmer Robert Tague is Lawrence's 5th great-grandfather and Renner's 4th.
It seems good looks and talents run in their family. "The similarities between the two are striking: both have deep Kentucky roots, both are parts of wildly successful franchises, and both play family-oriented, freedom-fighting archers," said Michelle.
