The upcoming fantasy movie follows a young boy attempting to deal with his mother's illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world.

AceShowbiz - Focus Features has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming drama fantasy movie "A Monster Calls". The film brings in newcomer Lewis MacDougall, who stars as a boy who is thrown into a magical world.
The film also stars Liam Neeson as a CG tree monster who resides in the fantastical world. "There was once an invisible man who had grown tired of being unseen. It was not that he was actually invisible, it was just that people had become used to not seeing him," Neeson says in voiceover. "One day the invisible man couldn't stand it any more. He kept wondering, if no one sees you, are you really there at all?"
The trailer then shows the boy trying to fit in with his friends in school. One night when he studies in his room, he is suddenly taken away by a giant-sized tree monster that grabs him through the window.
The movie is based on the award-winning children's fantasy novel. Also in the cast are Academy Award nominee Felicity Jones, Sigourney Weaver, Toby Kebbell and Geraldine Chaplin. Directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, "A Monster Calls" will be released stateside on October 14, 2016.
According to the official synopsis, "12-year-old Conor (MacDougall) attempts to deal with his mother's (Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith."
