Linda Perry wrote the song the singer will sing for the movie about real-life gay couple Laurel Hester and Stacie Andree who fight for pension benefits for same-sex domestic partnerships.

AceShowbiz - Miley Cyrus is taking part in the upcoming "Freeheld" movie. The singer and LGBT rights advocate announced over the weekend that she's singing a tune for the film, which will star Julianne Moore and Ellen Page as real-life New Jersey gay couple Laurel Hester and Stacie Andree respectively.

On Saturday, September 12, Cyrus posted on Instagram a picture of the two actresses and revealed in the caption that the song she'd sing for the movie was written by Linda Perry. "Proud to be apart of @freeheldmovie. singin a tune written by da bad a$$ @jesusonmars," she wrote.

She added, "Thank you to this incredible cast for giving a face to this incredible story and shining light on the brutal dark truth of love vs the law!"

Fans don't have to wait too long to hear Cyrus' contribution as "Freeheld" is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on October 2. The film centers on Laurel Hester and Stacie Andree as they fight for pension benefits for same-sex domestic partnerships after Laurel's tragically diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.
