Based on Michael Hastings' best-selling nonfiction book, the film is a satirical comedy to be released through Netflix next year.

AceShowbiz - Brad Pitt's Netflix movie "War Machine" added Topher Grace to the cast list, Deadline reported. The satirical comedy based on Michael Hastings' nonfiction book "The Operators: The Wild And Terrifying Inside Story Of America's War In Afghanistan" will have Grace playing Pitt's wingman.

Pitt, who will produce the film with his Plan B partners Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, is starring as Gen. Stanley McChrystal, a four-star U.S. military general determined to win the "impossible" war in Afghanistan. Netflix acquired the distribution rights in June this year, marking the streaming giant's biggest film acquisition at that time.

" 'War Machine' is a rip-roaring, behind-the-facade tale of modern war decision-makers, from the corridors of power to the distant regions of America's ambitions. Brad and David are a perfect team to make this timely, compelling and entertaining film," Netflix COO Ted Sarandos said about the black comedy then.

David Michod is both writing the script and directing. Ian Bryce is co-producing. Principal photography begins this month while premiere for both theaters and Netflix subscribers is set for next year.
