'Independence Day: Resurgence' Teaser Videos Go Viral

Celebrating U.S. Independence Day on July 4, Jeff Goldblum and director Roland Emmerich shared teaser videos for the upcoming sequel to 1996's 'Independence Day'.

AceShowbiz - Although "Independence Day: Resurgence" won't hit the big screen until June 24, 2016, 20th Century Fox already celebrated actual Independence Day on Saturday, July 4. Marking the event, Jeff Goldblum and director Roland Emmerich used their social media accounts to share the film's teaser videos.

Goldblum posted on Instagram a video which has tagline, "We're fighting for our right to live, to exist. #IDR." The director captioned the short video, "We must stand united in our fight for freedom #IDR."

Meanwhile, Emmerich posted a teaser video on Twitter. The video features the image of Bill Pullman as President Thomas J. Whitmore from the original film along with tagline, "We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive!"

Not only Goldblum and Emmerich, but the official Twitter account of the upcoming film also posted two similar teaser videos. One of the videos' caption reminds people that the movie will arrive in summer 2016. Another videos features an image of U.S. flag with the words, "Perhaps it's fate that today is 4th of July,and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not for tyranny, oppression, or persecution, but from annihilation."

"Independence Day: Resurgence" is set 20 years after events in 1996's "Independence Day". Goldblum will reprise his role as David Levinson. Liam Hemsworth stars as Jake, a fighter pilot, with Brent Spiner, Judd Hirsch, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Sela Ward also in the cast line-up.
