AceShowbiz - Reboot Entertainment released a first trailer of "Pawn Sacrifice" on Wednesday, May 27. The trailer focuses on Tobey Maguire's character both as a child and an adult who becomes a chess grandmaster.

Maguire stars in the film as Bobby Fischer, a child from Brooklyn who has a dream of becoming a world chess master. "He followed his dreams, he became a legend," so reads the tagline in the trailer. It also gives glimpses of Fischer as a young chess prodigy back in 1951. "American chess prodigy Bobby Fischer became the youngest ever grandmaster in the history of the game," someone says in voiceover.

Set in the height of the Cold War, the film shows Fischer locked in a gripping championship clash with the Soviet after he challenges Boris Spassky, a Russian chess master played by Liev Schreiber. "A poor kid from Brooklyn against the whole Soviet empire," someone says in voiceover. He struggles against his own psychological demons while the whole world anxiously awaits the outcome. "Behind the genius, lies the madness," the tagline reads.

Maguire leads the cast which also includes Peter Sarsgaard, Lily Rabe, Michael Stuhlbarg and Robin Weigert. Edward Zwick directs the movie with the script written by Steven Knight. Produced by Gail Katz, Maguire and Zwick, the movie is scheduled for a limited release on September 18 in the U.S.
