Kendrick Lamar Thanks Fans at 'To Pimp a Butterfly' Album Signing in Compton

Around 2500 fans showed up at the Best Buy in Lamar's hometown of Compton to meet the rapper and have him sign their copies of his newest album.

AceShowbiz - Kendrick Lamar returned to his hometown of Compton over the weekend for an album signing event he hosted. Around 2500 fans showed up at the Best Buy in the city to meet the Grammy-winning rapper and get autographed copies of his latest LP "To Pimp a Butterfly".

"It feels good to be back in my city, to go out here and see these kids still motivated by my music and by my dreams and aspirations," Lamar shared his excitement in an interview with ABC7. He also used the opportunity to thank his fans for their support.

"I wanna say thank you. Thank you for believing in me since day one. I've been doing my thing on the underground scene for years, you know, proud to be putting out any albums," he continued. "These the same people that have been rocking with me so I want to say thank you for believing in me and I believe in you the same, so as long as we believe in each other, I will continue to do this music."

"To Pimp a Butterfly" has officially become Lamar's first No. 1 album in the U.K. The critically-acclaimed effort, which recently broke a Spotify record after being streamed more than 9.6 million times in its first day, is also set to debut at No. 1 on Billboard 200 later this week.
