Dazzler, She-Hulk, Medusa, and a new character named Singularity will band together in the wake of Secret Wars event that rocks Marvel Universe.

AceShowbiz - Marvel announces a new group of superheroes to continue keep the peace in their universe. The team consists of all-female members like X-Men mutant Dazzler, the female version of Hulk, Runaways member Nico Minoru, Medusa from the Inhumans, and a new character named Singularity.

Titled "A-Force", the series is scheduled to debut in May as part of Secret Wars event that rocks Marvel Universe and shatters the Avengers. It's written by female writers G. Willow Wilson ("Ms. Marvel") and Marguerite Bennett ("Angela: Asgard's Assassin") and drawn by Jorge Molina ("X-Men").

"I think that we're kind of asking some implicit questions with this lineup and one of them is: Do we respond to female superhero teams in the same way that we respond to superhero teams composed primarily or entirely of men?" Wilson said. "So it is a bit of a risk, but it's a risk that's been shown to work."

Singularity is a pocket universe who doesn't have any real gender but chooses to be female. She has a "very cool power set" including an ability to move "between different worlds and dimensions like taking a walk." "So she has access to all corners of the Marvel U in a way that other characters do not," the writer explained to USA Today.

To write her story, Wilson decides to "strip it all the way down to the basics: What does it mean to be a woman and what would that look like to somebody who was learning about the human race as an outsider and is learning about what it means to have relationships with other people."

The fresh character is compared to the enigmatic Q from "Star Trek: The Next Generation". Wilson explained, "Her entire existence is so unlike that of ours that she really has to learn about what we think of as being an individual and having an identity from the ground up, with no point of access except those she meets."
