The former 'Miami Vice' actor is confirmed to portray a character who will have massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team.

AceShowbiz - Edward James Olmos joins "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." as a major recurring character. Marvel officially announces that the former "Battlestar Galactica" star is tapped to play Robert Gonzales, whose debut this spring will have massive repercussions for Director Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team.

Edward James Olmos brings an amazing gravitas to any role he inhabits, something we knew we needed for Robert Gonzales," said Executive Producer and Marvel's Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. "When Olmos first appears on our series, everyone will have to take notice--including our favorite Agents."

It's unclear how many episodes Olmos is booked for, but his casting came after fellow "Galactica" alum Lucy Lawless was killed off the TV show during the season two premiere. He joins another new member, Blair Underwood, who is set to portray Dr. Andrew Garner. The series returns on Tuesday, March 3 at 9:00 P.M. ET on ABC.
