Johnny Depp Does 'Not Give a F**k' About His Latest Box Office Flops
Movie

Depp admitted that he was dragged down by the pressure of scoring box office hits, describing it as 'being a dog at the track'.

AceShowbiz - Johnny Depp refuses to be bound by acting guides. The actor said in an interview that he had freed himself from a personal burden of caring too much about his acting after adapting Marlon Brando's philosophy.

Depp's latest movies such as "The Lone Ranger" and "Transcendence" did not do well on the box office. But Depp could not care less. "What is really satisfying is, like Marlon, getting to that place where he just didn't give a f**k," Depp told Details magazine in its December issue. "First, I reached a point where I cared so much and was so diligent in terms of approaching the work. Then you get to where you care so f**king much that it gets goddamn beleaguering, you know?"

The 51-year-old added, "But then a great thing happens. Suddenly you care enough to not give a f**k, because not giving a f**k, that's the total liberation. Being game to try anything." His newly-found philosophy can be seen in his latest choice of roles as the Big Bad Wolf in "Into the Woods" and real-life fugitives Whitey Bulger in "Black Mass".

Depp had a thought about Brando's "be careful, we only have so many faces in our pockets" and said, "I understood what he meant - and he's right. But I'm not running out, you know?"

But he admitted to feeling pressured by his fame to create a box-office hit all the time. "It's like being a dog at the track," the actor said. "They expect you to live up to some race you happened to be in and won accidentally. From that first second, you're nothing more than a commodity." He added, "They have expectations of another 'Pirates'. It's great if something works. Boy, that's killer. But God, to have that as your design ...it's ugly, I think."
