The 'Place Beyond the Pines' actress opens up about new mom routines and reveals that her daughter's name Esmeralda is inspired by a book character.

AceShowbiz - Eva Mendes opens up about her family for the first time since she and Ryan Gosling welcomed their daughter last month. In an interview with Violet Grey's The Violet Files, the star of "The Place Beyond the Pines" revealed why she and Gosling named their daughter Esmeralda Amada and talked about being a new mother.

"I'm completely exhausted. I thought my wild nights were over but these are some of the wildest nights I've ever had," Mendes admitted. Although taking care of a newborn baby is challenging, she opted not to hire a nanny for now.

"I'm doing it without a nanny for now but I'm open to the idea of having a nanny in the future. Esmeralda has two amazing grandmothers and incredible aunties who come over and really help me. But as far as a nanny or a night nurse, for me that part of being a mother at this early stage is the struggle of not being able to sleep and not knowing what I'm doing and really going through it with her and battling out those nights," she shared.

The new mother additionally shared that she liked going online to read other mothers' stories during the all-nighters. "I go to BabyCenter.com and read the comment section from other mothers because I find so much solace in that," the 40-year-old star said. "Just knowing that I'm not alone out there and that other moms have gone through the same thing can at least get me through the night."

Speaking of her baby daughter's name, Mendes said that it's inspired by a book character. "Ryan and I both love the Esmeralda character from the Victor Hugo novel, 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame', and we just think it's a beautiful name," she said. "Amada was my grandmother's name. It means 'beloved' in Spanish."
