AceShowbiz - Walt Disney Pictures has been developing follow-up(s) to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" even before the movie hits theaters, but details of the new projects are scarce. Now, a juicy tidbit from Gareth Edwards and Gary Whitta's "Star Wars" spin-off has surfaced.
According to SlashFilm, the yet-to-be titled movie will center on a group of bounty hunters hired to pull off the ultimate heist in the galaxy, which is to steal the plans for the first Death Star. The story is reportedly set during the "A New Hope" era and sets Luke Skywalker on his path to becoming a Jedi in the original trilogy.
Since nothing has been set in stone for the untitled stand-alone Star Wars film, this alleged plot should be taken with a grain of salt. So far, only Gareth Edwards and Gary Whitta are confirmed on board the movie as the director and scribe respectively.
The first "Star Wars" spin-off is slated for a December 6, 2016 release in the U.S.
