AceShowbiz - Matthew Weiner received the 2014 International Emmy Founders Award at the gala held on Monday night, November 24 at the New York Hilton Hotel. "Mad Men" stars Christina Hendricks and John Slattery were on hand to present the gong to the series creator/writer/executive producer.
He credited the show's cast for the success of the period drama. "There is no award for this show that belongs to just me," Weiner said. "The humanity that comes through comes from the actors who never stop feeling....The show is about humanity and that is why the show translated so well internationally. Humanity translates."
Meanwhile, U.K.'s series "Utopia" took the top honor for Drama Series at the event. British actor Stephen Dillane won Best Performance by an Actor for "The Tunnel" while the award in the female acting category went to Dutch actress Bianca Krijgsman for her performance in "The New World".
The 42nd edition of the International Emmy Awards was hosted by British comedian Matt Lucas. Laverne Cox, Carrie Preston, 50 Cent, Darby Stanchfield and Megan Follows were among the celebrity presenters.
