AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift received the first-ever Dick Clark Award of Excellence at the 2014 American Music Award which has just been wrapped up. The country-turned-pop superstar accepted her trophy from Diana Ross while her "Out of the Woods" was played in the background.
After a video tribute surrounding her latest album "1989" was shown, Swift thanked Ross and praised her for being a woman who "stood up for herself in a time when it was not popular for a woman to stand up for herself." Looking gorgeous in a green dress, she then gave shout outs to her fans and addressed her feud with Spotify in her acceptance speech.
"What you did by going out and investing in music and albums is you are saying that you believe in the same thing that I believe in: that music is valuable and music should be consumed in albums and albums should be consumed as art and appreciated," she told viewers.
Swift wasn't the only big winner at the AMAs, which aired from L.A.'s Nokia Theater on Sunday night, November 23. Her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles' One Direction took home three awards including Artist of the Year, Favorite Band/Duo/Group in Pop/Rock and Favorite Album in Pop/Rock for 2013's "Midnight Memories".
