The singer, who was diagnosed with viral infection a few months ago, has been ordered by her doctors to take more time to rest to ensure a full recovery.

AceShowbiz - Cher has been forced to cancel the remaining dates on her "Dressed to Kill" tour. The iconic singer, who postponed a number of her shows in September after she was diagnosed with acute viral infection, has been ordered by her doctors to take more time to rest to ensure a full recovery.

Cher expressed her disappointment over the cancellation in a statement posted on her website. "I am totally devastated. Nothing like this has ever happened to me," she said. "I cannot apologize enough to all the fans who bought tickets. I'm so proud of this show. It is my best ever. I sincerely hope that we can come back again next year and finish what we started."

"Dressed to Kill" tour was launched earlier this year in support of the diva's latest album, 2013's "Closer to the Truth". She played 49 shows before taking a scheduled break in July. Shortly before resuming the tour in September, she fell ill with the infection that affected kidney function.

The shows that have just been canceled included appearances in Washington, D.C., New York City, Boston, Toronto and Chicago. Tickets will be refunded at the "point of purchase."
