Responding to a recent rumor started by U.K.'s tabloid The Mirror, the rocker says via his rep that no such offer has ever been made.

AceShowbiz - No one even planned a Led Zeppelin reunion. Lead vocalist Robert Plant has shot down recent report claiming that he turned down millions of dollars offered by Virgin Atlantic's founder Richard Branson to reunite the band.

U.K.'s The Mirror was the one that started the rumor. Citing an anonymous source, the tabloid claimed Branson offered the rock band $800 million for a 35-show, three-city tour. Plant, however, showed no interest.

Speaking through his representative, Plant said that the story was completely false. "Robert Plant has not been in receipt of any offers in recent months with any organization or promoters regarding future Led Zep live shows," the rep explained on Wednesday, November 12. "Robert Plant has neither met or communicated with Richard Branson in the last 50 years, so it was with great surprise to see this reported in the press."

Branson also denied the report, taking to his personal blog to confirm that the offer was never made. "I've been left dazed and confused by a story doing the rounds this week about us apparently offering Led Zeppelin £500 million to reform and carry out a tour," he wrote. "As much as I love the band, there is absolutely no truth to the story."

Led Zeppelin disbanded after drummer John Bonham died in 1980. Surviving members Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones last performed together in 2007.
