Sony Denies 'Spider-Man' Spin-Off About Aunt May
Movie

The rumor suggesting there will be a movie about the younger version of Peter Parker's aunt has 'no validity whatsoever.'

AceShowbiz - Aunt May from Spider-Man world won't get her own movie after all. Sony was rumored developing a prequel that would focus on the guardian of Peter Parker, but the studio told Comic Book Resources that it was a "silly rumor" with "no validity whatsoever."

The previous report suggested Sony was trying to take a crack at a story that would follow Aunt May during her younger days before she was shouldered with the responsibility of raising Peter. According to Latino-Review, it will be some sort of espionage story in the vein of "Mad Men".

The fate of Spider-Man was left uncertain after the lukewarm performance of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" earlier this year. Sony originally plotted two more "The Amazing Spider-Man" sequels and two spin-offs, but the movie slate is believed to be left in disarray.

The only project expected to go as planned is "The Sinister Six" which revolves around the supervillains in Spidey's universe who seek redemption for their past sins. Drew Goddard ("The Cabin in the Woods") will helm and write the script. It's due November 11, 2016.
