Mark Zuckerberg Called 'The Social Network' Hurtful
Movie

Some of the things in the Oscar-winning movie were so made up, particularly on the driving force of Facebook creation, so the Facebook founder claims.

AceShowbiz - Mark Zuckerberg is not a fan of "The Social Network" which recounts his life before and after Facebook. During a live Q & A streamed on his social networking site on Friday, November 7, Zuckerberg said some of the things in the movie were "hurtful."

"Wow, I haven't spent a lot of time thinking about that movie in a while," Zuckerberg said when asked about the 2010 film. "I kinda blocked that one out. It was a very interesting experience to watch a movie that was supposedly about my life." He further emphasized, "Yeah, supposedly."

"The Social Network", starring Jesse Eisenberg as Zuckerberg, took in $225 million worldwide. "I think the reality is that writing code and building a product and then building a company actually is not a glamorous enough thing to make a movie about," Zuckerberg said.

If it were a true story about him then the Oscar-winning movie would be boring. "So you can imagine that a lot of the stuff they probably had to embellish and make up," the 30-year-old said. "Because if they were really making a movie, it would have been of me, sitting at a computer coding for two hours straight, which probably would have just not been that good of a movie and these guys, I think, want to win awards and sell tickets."

He noted that some of the details in the film, including the design of Facebook office, were right but in terms of the plot, "they just kind of made up a bunch of stuff that I found kind of hurtful," particularly on his romance life. "The thing that I found the most interesting about the movie, was that they kind of made up this whole plot line about how I somehow decided to create Facebook to, I think, attract girls," he said.

The film depicted Zuckerberg as a man who was prompted to created Facebook after his heart was broken by an ex-girlfriend. "One important piece of context is, the woman who I'm married to, who I've been dating for more than 10 years, and I've known for more than 10 years, I was actually dating her before I even started Facebook," he said, referring to his wife Priscilla Chan, whom he married in 2010.

The film also showed Zuckerberg as a ladies man after Facebook took off. "If somehow I was trying to create Facebook to find more women, that probably would not have gone over too well in my relationship, and I probably would not still be married to her today," he said.
