Jake Gyllenhaal Set for True-Story Drug Cartel Movie 'Man Who Made It Snow'

The movie about drug smuggler Max Mermelstein will reunite the 'Prisoners' actor with his 'Southpaw' director Antoine Fuqua.

AceShowbiz - As Jake Gyllenhaal makes headline with his new film "Nightcrawler" which debuted in top 10 of domestic box office, his next project is announced. The "Prisoners" actor is tapped to topline "The Man Who Made It Snow" which is inspired by the true story of former drug smuggler Max Mermelstein.

Mermelstein is a man who once worked in the inner circle of the Colombian cocaine cartel. He was responsible for helping turn Pablo Escobar's drug organization into a billion-dollar enterprise known as Medellin Cartel. The two men became estranged as Mermelstein became an informant against the cartel and Escobar went to extreme measures to take him out.

The fact-based movie will be directed by Antoine Fuqua. It will be his reunion with Gyllenhaal after they wrapped up the production of upcoming boxing drama "Southpaw".
