The country-turned-pop queen also announces plan to go on a tour to support the album, which has been projected to sell around 1.2 million copies in its first week.

AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift took over "Good Morning America" on Thursday morning, October 30. The singer, who's now promoting "1989", performed some songs from the album live for thousands of fans who showed up in New York City's Times Square.

Swift kicked off her three-song set with "Welcome to New York", which she has said will benefit NYC public schools. She later performed "Out of the Woods" before tackling "Shake It Off" while being joined by some backing vocalists and some horn players.

"1989" was released earlier this week and is on course to open at No. 1 on Billboard 200 next week. Marking the 24-year-old star's first pop full-length, it has been projected to start with 1.2 million copies sold.

During her visit to the morning show, Swift also teased a new tour to support the album. "I am gonna be going out on tour very soon! We're in the early stages of planning the actual show," she said. "I'm excited about announcing things when I can announce them, but it's going to be happening!"

She also thanked fans who had camped out overnight to see her as well as everyone who had bought her new album. "I worked for this for two years and for them to want to listen to my stories from the last two years of my life is the most insane honor," she told the crowd.

She additionally talked about being named a Global Welcome Ambassador for New York City tourism. "I'm new to town so I'm just so excited about them including me in the tourism board because everywhere I go I'm just like, 'You need to go to New York,' " she explained. "It's my favorite place in the world. It's the greatest city in the world."
