AceShowbiz - Fans can stop wondering how T-Pain sounds like singing without auto-tune. The hip-hop star was the latest artist to perform for NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series and during the gig, he showed off his amazing vocal chops as he sang some of his songs nearly a capella.

T-Pain was only joined by a keyboardist he called Toro while he performed a slowed-down version of tracks from his catalog, including "Up Down (Do This All Day)", "Buy You a Drank (Shawty Snappin)" and "Drankin Patna".

T-Pain is currently readying a new album called "T-Pain Presents Happy Hour: The Greatest Hits". In a recent interview with Huffington Post to promote the record, he explained some "common misconceptions" behind auto-tune and said Kanye West was one of those people who didn't use the tool correctly.

"When people hear auto-tune, they know that it's used so much [as] a crutch, and I use it to turn my voice into an instrument," the Florida native told host Marc Lamont Hill. "Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of guys who use auto-tune that just cannot sing. The only person I heard use it correctly like I use it was Chris Brown [and] Jamie Foxx."

"Kanye uses it, but he doesn't use it correctly," T-Pain added. "He makes great music with it, but the way that I use it and the way that I've shown Chris and Jamie to use it, he doesn't use it that way. He sings without it first and then he puts it on after he's done with the vocals. You don't know how it's going to come out, you can't catch your mistakes before they happen. So sometimes it gets a little bit wobbly and things like that."
