Kathryn Bigelow and Catherine Hardwicke Lined Up to Direct 'Wonder Woman'

A 'Game of Thrones' director and a 'Walking Dead' helmer are also eyed to sit behind the lens for the first live-action female superhero solo film.

AceShowbiz - After news broke out that Warner Bros. was looking for a female director to helm "Wonder Woman", now a list of contenders to take the job emerges. According to Forbes, Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow ("Point Break", "The Hurt Locker", "Zero Dark Thirty (2012)") is the studio's top choice.

Other candidates to bring the DC heroine to the big screen include Catherine Hardwicke ("Twilight"), Mimi Leder ("Deep Impact"), Karyn Kusama ("Jennifer's Body"), and Julie Taymor ("Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark"). Joining the mix is two TV directors Michelle MacLaren ("Game of Thrones") and Tricia Brock ("The Walking Dead").

Gal Gadot will make her debut as Wonder Woman in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" due March 25, 2016, before getting her own solo film in 2017. "Justice League Part One" follows in 2017 and "Justice League Part Two" in 2019. The other planned DC movies are "Suicide Squad" (2016), "The Flash" (2018), "Aquaman" (2018), "Shazam" (2019), "Cyborg" (2020), and "Green Lantern (2020)" .
